The bosses of building sites or farms take advantage of the unemployment situation in France : they employ workers illegally, instead of making a work contract. For the bosses this is great. They can pay whatever they want (and even not paying at all!) without paying the social security charges to the community. The bosses show how much they despise workers by not fulfilling their social obligations. Bosses treat workers like slaves. Workers often feel that they are trapped, but they don’t dare to denounce their boss. This is an example of the class struggle, the struggle of the rich against the poor.
The French State is also an accomplice in this situation, because its only reply is to increase the repression against workers by increasing the identity controls in the street. Prefectures [=administrative center of a departement] systematically refuse asyllum seekers the right to work. By doing this, the State encourages illegal work. Workers without papers are forced to live clandestinely while their bosses live with full impunity.
It is our turn now! We can’t let them continue! We have to make things difficult for the bosses and we can do this by organizing to stop them getting rich off us.
